Circle Time
We use small group circle times daily to help children develop their Personal, Social and Emotional skills. These are tailored to children’s ages and stages of development and encourage the children to become confident in sharing thoughts and opinions.
Continuous Provision
We follow a daily schedule as children learn through routine and repetition.
We have daily mark-making, malleable and sand play, construction, a small world section, a home corner, dressing up, and a reading area.
Our small world resources are rotated to fit in with children’s current interests and we have a role play area that is changed regularly. We also do lots of special seasonal activities.
Healthy Eating
We have a practitioner who works with parents to promote healthy eating. We have a weekly snack menu consisting of a variety of healthy choices. We also operate a healthy lunch box policy. We complete activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
Outdoor Play
Our garden area is adjacent to our main playroom, which allows during free play times, the children to free-flow and choose to learn outdoors. Our balancing equipment and physical activities promote the development of gross motor skills.
EYFS
Pre-School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory requirements.
We have a wide range of policies and procedures to ensure we meet all welfare requirements. Our curriculum is followed to meet all the learning requirements.
We share the curriculum with our parents as children join and they have the opportunity to meet regularly with their child’s key person to discuss their child’s development.
Values
Here at Pre-School, we promote respect, enthusiasm, tolerance and a love of learning along with the British Values which encourage children to develop the skills to be responsible citizens.
We encourage the children to be part of the local community by taking them out on walks, visiting the local shops and places of interest, and also taking part in village events.
